South African entertainers have taken to social media pleading with the president to open the entertainment industry as they seem to be feeling the pinch.
As of writing this South Africa is now on day 161 of the lockdown and we are currently on level 2 as per the Covid-19 lockdown levels.
Durban based DJ Tira posted a video on Instagram of a gathering under the hashtag #OperationVula and #VulaPresident.
Highways were reportedly blocked by the participants and police had to be deployed to calm the situation.
On Twitter more entertainers joined the #VulaPresident tag such as rapper Cassper Nyovest and he posted “The entertainment industry doesn’t feed artists only. There are cleaners, security guards, caterers, sound technicians, Pr, engineers, tent owners, barricade fence owners, light technicians that have lost their livelihoods since March. Think about them if not us. #VulaPresident”.
