South Africa’s most watch telenovela Uzalo is the latest show to halt is production due to Covid-19.
One of the cast members of Uzalo has tested positive for Covid-19 and in keeping with the health and safety protocols to flatten the curve of the virus the production has been halted.
The show stopped production last week Friday once they learned of the news.
Pepsi Pokane of Stained Glass Productions that produces Uzalo gave the following statement to the media:
“SABC1’s most-watched soap opera Uzalo have come together to offer a heartfelt compassion and support to a colleague who has tested positive for Covid–19. Production on Uzalo was immediately halted on Friday upon notice at a cast member testing positive for Covid-19.”
The statement goes on to say:
“We offer sincere well wishes and support to our colleague. In accordance with Covid-19 safety protocols, Uzalo production sets have undergone an intensive disinfection processes to further minimise the risk of contamination as part of production’s regular health and safety practice.”
There was no date given as to when production shall resume though we would expect it should be in about 14 days.
Uzalo in the meantime will continue to air on SABC1 without any interruptions.
